Following the development of a campus wide public realm masterplan and design guidelines, the first phase of public realm improvements has transformed 6 hectares of the campus for £8m. Seven new public spaces have been created including the new University Square and Tuer Park. 250 new trees planted, internal campus roads have been converted to a network of shared surface pedestrian and cycle routes, and all areas brought to secure by design standards. The project was achieved within tight budget constraints and the campus remained fully operational throughout construction.
