Marble Arch is one of the principal gateways into the West End of London, The plan proposes to redress the balance between pedestrians and surface-level transport. Marble Arch is a heavily used crossroads with a long social history as a gathering place for people - a role that has been significantly compromised over time. The pedestrian environment is to be improved by making street level movement more generous re-connecting the Arch and Speaker’s Corner to Hyde Park. Over 40 acres of new park and public space is to be reclaimed including the largest public plaza in London since Trafalger Square.
